Then join our accomplished team!Your future work environment:At the Austrian Educational Competence Center Chemistry (AECC Chemistry) at the Center for Teacher Education (ZLB) at the University of Vienna, we are engaged in research and development in the context of teaching and learning chemistry. Our current work focuses on inquiry-based learning, green and sustainable chemistry, and using natural language processing in educational research. Findings from these endeavours are implemented into pre-service and in-service chemistry teacher education. We are looking for a dedicated PhD student (pre-doc, 4 years fixed-term) who is interested in actively immerse in and contribute to these areas.An additional benefit is the membership in the Doctoral School of Education (DSE) at the University of Vienna. It offers a stimulating, creative and constructive academic environment for doctoral students for instance through specific courses and summer schools.Your future tasks:You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
  • Participation in research projects / research studies
  • Participation in publications / academic articles / presentations
  • We expect the candidate to sign a doctoral thesis agreement within 12-18 months
  • Participation in teaching and independent teaching of courses as defined by the collective agreement
  • Supervision of students
  • Involvement in the organisation of meetings, conferences, symposiums
  • Involvement in the department administration as well as in teaching and research administration
This is part of your personality:
  • Completed degree in Chemistry Education
  • Didactic competence
  • Excellent command of written and spoken German and English
  • Computer literacy
  • Ability to work in teams and to reflect
  • Preferably perennial teaching experience in school
  • Preferably knowledge of educational research methods
  • Preferably experience in teaching in university or other institutions
