Then join our accomplished team!Your place of work:The Department of Slavonic Studies is looking for a PhD student with a linguistic research project in the field of West Slavic Studies with a focus on Bohemian and/or Slovak Studies. We offer you the opportunity to pursue your dissertation project intensively at the largest German-speaking Department of Slavonic Studies, to gain initial teaching experience and to conduct independent research in a stimulating environment.The advertised position of a university assistant ("prae doc") is to be filled on 1 November 2025. The advertisement is for 4 years, whereby the employment relationship is initially limited to 1.5 years and is automatically extended to a total of 4 years, unless the employer submits a declaration of non-renewal after a maximum of 12 months.Your future tasks:You actively participate in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- You are working on your dissertation and its completion. We expect you to conclude your dissertation agreement within 12-18 months.
- You will be involved in research projects and scientific studies in the field of Bohemian and/or Slovak studies.
- You will contribute to publications / scientific articles / lectures.
- You hold courses independently to the extent of the provisions of the collective agreement.
- You will take on administrative tasks in research and teaching.
- You will support the organization of meetings, conferences, symposia and student support.
- Completed Master's/Diploma degree in Slavic Studies with a focus on Bohemian and/or Slovak Studies.
- Proven interest in West Slavic studies.
- Very good knowledge of German, English, Czech and/or Slovak, both written and spoken. Knowledge of other Slavic languages and a broad interest in Slavic studies are an advantage.
- Organizational skills
- Communication talent and ability to work in a team
- IT user knowledge
- International experience
- Experience with online and digitally supported learning
- Knowledge of university processes and structures, experience in university self-administration
- Basic knowledge of other Slavic languages as well as non-Slavic foreign languages
