Job Description Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Expert to build up, qualify and handover to business the automation solutions in our analytical labs in close collaboration with local and international colleagues.In this position, you report to the Team Lead of Analytical Lab Automation specialty in PAS (Process Analytical Sciences) located in Schaftenau (AT).Job DescriptionYour responsibilities include but are not limited to the following areas:Programming & automation:
  • You will develop new workflows in the scheduler program
  • With your analytical background you will assist business functions with transforming manual sample preparation methods into automated sample preparation methods.
  • You successfully build up, qualify and handover to business the automation solutions in our analytical labs in close collaboration with local and international colleagues.
  • Together with other experts you will design the operation model under which the system will operate and suggest the respective lab processes in collaboration with local process owners.
Project management:
  • You are a project manager for automation projects and assure all project activities are performed in a compliant way and in a timely manner, are meeting business demands as well as financial targets and adhere to agreed timelines.
  • You ensure compliance with quality standards (DQP), global safety standards (HSE) and other Novartis standards
Innovation:
  • With your automation experience you are one of the key persons in Austria for our “Lab Automation and Robotic Assistance Strategy” and part of the global automation matrix team. As such you will expertly manage our stakeholders in Analytic development (AD) and beyond.
  • Identify customer needs, find current market insights and provide technical expertise during development of automation solutions
  • You will plan for the integration of future automation solutions being developed at our partner sites.
Minimum requirements:What you will bring to the role:
  • You have automation experience and have analytical background with a minimum of 5 years of experience in the industry
  • You are equipped with profound knowledge of liquid handler control software (Fluent Control, Evoware, Venus) paired with strong expertise for system troubleshooting and integration of 3rd party devices.
  • You can code in Python and C#
  • Your skills are supplemented with excellent communication and presentation skills and proficiency in verbal and written English.

  • Technical engineering skills, hands-on approach in troubleshooting and development
Desirable requirements:
  • You have a proven track record in automating sample preparation for protein analytic process including implementation of automation systems.
  • You have experience with XML and JSON
  • Ideally you have experience with Momentum from Thermo Fisher.
  • You have a profound understanding of FAIR data principle and its benefits.
  • You have experience with instrument qualification and software validation
  • You are proficient in German.
In accordance with Austrian law, we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary as stated in the collective bargaining agreement. For this position the minimum salary is €65,605.54/year (on a full time basis).
