A Day in Your Life at MKS:As a Scientist (m/f/d) in the Laser Business Unit, you will be part of the Photonic R&D team in Rankweil (Austria), whose core task is the product development of ultrashort pulse lasers. In this role, you will report to the R&D Manager Photonic.Your responsibilities
  • Independent execution of project development tasks.
  • Careful analysis and documentation of the development steps.
  • Contributing innovative solutions in product development
  • Technical supervision executions of patent and literature screenings
  • Ensure all work is conducted safely & in compliance with laws, regulations at MSD standards (e.g. Corporate Compliance etc.).
  • Strong interaction with Project Manager and R&D Manager
  • Driving product development projects to a successful conclusion
  • Resolving troubleshooting cases within the project
  • Experimental set up and cooperation with internal and external partners
  • Supporting the Photonic R&D Team
What you bring to the table
  • Degree Physics or Engineering with a PhD
  • Experience in the field of ultrafast lasers and ultrafast laser measurement methods
  • Basic knowledge of linear, non-linear optics and the physics of ultrashort laser pulses
  • Laboratory experience in building ultra-short pulse lasers
  • You have excellent written and spoken English skills, German is a plus
  • Creative and proactive way of working with high quality standards and a simultaneous focus on results
  • Interdisciplinary thinking and enjoyment of innovative solutions
  • You are a personality with strong analytical skills
  • Willingness to learn and openness to change
