Reference no.: 4373The Department of Islamic-Theological Studies is looking for a postdoctoral university assistant in the field of Islam in Contemporary Society who would like to be part of a committed and pleasant working atmosphere. The position comprises 40 hours and is limited to 4 years.Your personal sphere of play:Your future workplace will be at the Department of Islamic-Theological Studies, primarily in the area of the professorship Islam in Contemporary Society. In addition to conducting independent research and developing research projects in the core disciplines of Islamic theology, you will be responsible for teaching at the Department.Your future tasks:Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- Development and advancement of an independent teaching and research profile
- International publications and lectures
- Support in the planning and organisation of meetings, conferences, symposia and workshops
- Collaboration in the development of research projects and the acquisition of third-party funding
- Independent organisation of courses, examinations and supervision of Islamic-Theological Studies students in the Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes
- Participation in organisational and administrative tasks in teaching, research and Department management as well as in evaluation processes
- Participation in the publication of the journal "Forum Islamic-Theological Studies"
- Excellent German language skills (at least C1 level) are essential
- Completed doctoral/PhD studies in Islamic-Theological Studies or a comparable discipline
- Research in the field of Islamic theology with a focus on its relevance for European societies
- Theological and interdisciplinary engagement with questions of religious plurality and interreligious dialogue
- Empirical and conceptual research on Muslim life in Europe, in particular on the institutionalisation and organisation of Islamic communities
- Analysing the interactions between Islamic law and European legal systems, including ethical issues in the areas of bioethics, economic ethics and environmental ethics
- Development of theological and pedagogical concepts for Islamic educational work, particularly in the context of imam and counselling training and teaching in mosques
- Critical reflection on socio-political discourses on Islam
- In-depth analysis of Islamic theological discourses on reform and renewal in a global and European context
- Experience in acquiring third-party funding for interdisciplinary and application-orientated research projects
- Willingness to engage in international networking and interaction with research institutions and colleagues in Islamic theology and related disciplines
- Outstanding dissertation
- Proven research expertise and initiative through international publications in peer-reviewed journals
- Experience in research management
- Didactic skills and experience in e-learning
- Good IT skills
- Excellent knowledge of English (C1)
- High level of written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work in a team, social and communication skills, ability to take criticism
