- Design and lead the development of AI solutions, from prototypes to production systems, using structured and unstructured healthcare data.
- Build scalable, secure ML pipelines and deploy models into real-world clinical or operational workflows.
- Hire, mentor, and manage a growing team of AI engineers, data scientists, and ML specialists.
- Establish engineering best practices for AI development, MLOps, model versioning, and continuous delivery.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, clinical leaders, hospital operations, and the broader development department to align AI efforts with platform architecture, software design, and user-facing applications.
- Work with software engineers to integrate AI functionality into clinical apps, backend services, and internal tools.
- Communicate technical and strategic decisions to stakeholders in both engineering and non-technical domains.
- Apply state-of-the-art AI platforms such as OpenAI, Gemini, or Anthropic to build LLM-powered tools.
- Champion the use of AI developer tools like GitHub Copilot, Windsurf, and prompt engineering frameworks to accelerate team efficiency.
- Lead evaluations of open-source tools and cloud-based platforms to continuously evolve our AI ecosystem.
- Define requirements for data ingestion, curation, and access in partnership with IT and DevOps.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and promote responsible AI practices.
- 3+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering or software development, with a strong track record of delivering production AI systems.
- Hands-on experience with modern LLMs and AI platforms (OpenAI, Gemini, Claude, etc.).
- Proven leadership in building AI products and/or teams, ideally in healthcare or similarly complex domains.
- Strong coding skills in Python and relevant ML tooling (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face, LangChain).
- Experience with MLOps practices and tools (e.g., MLflow, Kubeflow, Docker, CI/CD).
- Comfortable navigating cross-functional environments and translating technical plans into cross-team action.
- Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
- Ownership of AI architecture and strategy in a greenfield environment.
